Hike Throug the Upper Swabian Hops Agriculture
You will have me as your guide and you don't have to look for your way. You can
hike through the wonderful upper swabian fore-alpin area. This area was formed
by glaciers and water. We pass along the hops fields, hike through silent valleys,
pass a castle and if you like to, I can show you the bottem of the Lake of Constance
from 10.000 years ago. And of course we will visit small breweries with excellent
beer and delicious food.

We start our hike in the Max und Moritz Brauerei
in Kressbronn. After we have seen the production
of the beer we will have a beer test. If you like it ethnic, you have to be careful!
The ladle can hold lots of beer and this beer is really delicious! If you drink
too much you will have problems at the hike. Then we will eat a little and
after that we will start the hike.
 | Passing
hops fields we walk a short distance on a small country road. Then we hike straight
through a wood and reach the Lehensburg (the
ruin of a very old castle). On the right picture you can see the ramp of the castle. |  |

On the top of theLehensburg you have a picturesque
view on the Lake of Constance and sometimes on
a part of the mountains of the Alps. After
we have enjoyed the view we will descend into the valley of the Argen.
| We come to a caslte that we can visit. Then
we come to a bridge over the Argen. Before we enter the bridge we have to decide
us about iour further way. |  |
| Route A: We walk
through the valley of the Argen straight to the
next brewery. Route B: We hike through
the Tettnanger Wald (Wood of Tettnang) to a quarry
and then through the wood to the next brewery. Route
C: We go along the Argen for a while, pass hops fields, former castles,
a celtic entrenchment and the ruine of a castle to the next brewery. I describe
the Route A now.

The eyes of each beer friend will glance,when he walks through the hops plantations
and the hops swing low in summer wind And then the beer friend looks at
the hops umbels and enjoys the fresh colors. Then he remembers, that you
can get in this area one of the best hops on this world!. And then the beer
friend becomes thursty for the next fresh beer and we can rest in a small inn
in one of the villages. |  |

Then we walk along the valley of the Argen.
When you make the hike with me in the late summer you can see the harvest of the
hops. After we have hike from 15 to 23 km, depending
on the route we will reach a suburb of Tettnang.

We come to a very small brewery. They make really excellent beer and
you will have delicious food and very fine schnapps. All is self made and tates
very very good. After that we will have a good night. On
the next day after a big breakfast we go on hiking through the
Oberschwäbisches Hopfenanbaugebiet (Upper Swabian Hops Agriculture)
along hops fields, meadows, small lakes und woods. At noon we will look for a
restaurant and on the late noon we will reach Ravensburg.

Our hike ends In Ravensburg with a supper
in the Bärengarten (Photo at the left).
Then we say good bye to the Oberschwäbischen Hopfenanbaugebiet. |
